Facet fuel pumps??

Post by steve patrol »

Hi all,

I need a new fuel "helper" pump for the TD42 NA. Im running 2 inline CAV filters so without the "helper" pump ive found it to be missing sometimes (starved of fuel). There's 3 to choose from but Im just not sure what sort of pressure and LPH rate I should get? The specs are:
1. 6 - 8 PSI / 121 LPH
2. 2.75 - 4 PSI / 136 LPH
3. 4 - 5.5 PSI / 121 LPH

These are the High Performance Gold-flo Facet pumps.

Is there another option I should be looking at??

Cheers

The first one, you will loose some pressure through the CAV filters. Volume is no issue as the IP will recirculate excess as part of the lube/cooling/normal handeling process.
My experience is up to +7psi on the inlet yields good drivability gains, is safe for your IP and aids in prolonging your IP life as it is not really designed to do this - -it just so happens it can.
FYI I have an 2002 TD42 with a GT2860RS turbo running 10PSI.

i would suggest that pump, the walbro FRB 5-1

running it on my patrol when the holley red shat itself, wish i had gone to this setup sooner.

its quiet, pumps up to pressure and then slows down so its not running flat knackers all the time when it doesnt need to be, unlike the holley etc.

the pressure it operates at is not an issue, and when i got mine was quoted 6-8 psi,so dunno whether the website is right or the person i was speaking to.

either way, first hand i suggest this pump :)

I have been running a Facet for around 1.5 years now, works fine.
I think mine is the 4 - 5.5 PSI one, not sure, could check though.
It's noisy as though, ticking is very noticable.

My engine is a TD42, aftermarket Garett turbo, 9psi, no other mods.

I have an FRB-13.
I have a CAV infront of the genuine nissan filter.
Mine is mounted unfer my ute tray - I suspect a bit of work to mount on a wagon though do-able.
I chose the FRB-13 for the corrosion resistance and the fact it has a claims 18000+ hrs of operation.

I also sourced a 1 way valve...... but looking at that website you can get them there.

mine too is mounted under the tray, up behind one of the uprights for the tray mounts
i went this one for the extra flow, cause so much fuel gets cycled by the pump, especially high in the revs
a.j. what pump is yours? i have to touch the walbro to work out if its pumping or not half the time, the holley red was the most irritation piece of shit ive ever listened to
i paid 242 about 6 weeks ago for my pump, was only just dearer than the next pump down, with about half the flow rate,

got it through flexible drive agencies in coopers plains, they could send it anywhere im pretty sure, great to deal with

3274 2777 if you wanna deal with them :)
