Hey all,
I currently have a 98 GU Patrol. Its a 4.5 petty with an auto box. (TI). I'm having some problems with the auto locking hubs.
I'm looking at replacing them with some aftermarket AVM performance manual locking hubs. I've had a friend tell me he has heard they are shit and quite often crap out.
Was just wondering if anybody has any feed back on the product??????

Re: AVM aftermarket hubs
I have AVM hubs on my pajero and have had no problems. It is locked in the front and I have broken 2 cv's and the hubs have handled it.
Re: AVM aftermarket hubs
Genuine Nissan manual ones are good, and there is a good reason that people seek them out.

Re: AVM aftermarket hubs
Got them on a GQ and they are crap. The first set smashed, sent them back and they gave us another set and they have sh*t themselves too. Gone back to Nissan ones.
Re: AVM aftermarket hubs
Here's some advice i got from ARB retailer (ARB is AVM)
Went to one here in West Gosford and asked him about AVM's (i already knew the AVM history on patrol's) asked him what he though. his exact words were "I wouldn't sell them to you for patrol, they are too weak". Now this is comming from a guy who sells ARB/AVM/Warn gear.
Went to one at Wyoming, they tried to tell me they were better than the genuine Nissan manuals, they were just trying to sell gear, so i know not to get them and who to go to for my accessories, if he is going to tell me not to buy them and he is a supplier of AVM hubs, i guess he is more interested in return business than just 1 sale

Re: AVM aftermarket hubs
So it seems most people are not happy with them.
Which sucks as I've already paid for them and they are in the post.
I did buy the performance hub which is meant to be stronger and the internals are said to be machined from a single piece of billet steel as compared to the normal die cast internal.
At the end of the day its the family tourer with 33's and no locker in the front (Yet), not a balls out bush basher. So maybe they will be ok for a while.

Re: AVM aftermarket hubs
The trick with AVM and GU's is to get the right AVM hubs. There are two available. AVM445 is the standard hub and is weaker than the factory. AVM445HP is the high performance hub and better
