Oh hallow!
Why do you want to replace the 2.4? I'm afraid the only motors that will bolt to your box with no mods/adaptors are not much more efficient or powerful than what you have currently.

Buy

Ps: turn your caps lock off or people will go all John Travolta on yo ass.

Even if another more powerfull motor did bolt to the petrol gearbox it would grenade not long after if driven with some enthusiasm. A bundera has a hilux driveline with a landcruiser split case transfer and hilux diffs pretty much, with coils and the vehicle is heavier.

If going a more powerful motor get a gearbox from the turbo diesel model.

Toyota 1UZ-FE alloy quad cam V8, but you need some adapters, and the driveline might not like it too much.

really depends on how much money you want to spend
the ultimate for a that truck for touring would be a 1KD fte

VKC Motor Thailand Sport Version
Engine type: 1KD-FTE 3.0 inline 4 dohc vn T-25 twin turbo intercooler D4D commonrail
Engine capacity: 2982
Max Power: 195KW/266PS
Max torque: 645NM

that would make the bundy wheelstand and its a diesel and use about 8 ltrs per hundred

u can use a 1kz bellhousing that bolts straight up to a TD bundy box
80 series 1980 hilux cab supra twin turbo engine
1hdfte 80 series
LHD fz 80 series GX

22re does exist (efi) but to get anything decent out of it you would need to do more work.. supercharger/turbo/or normal n/a mods.. cam, head, exhaust, etc.

I have seen this question somewhere before.. (maybe even here on OL) try a search on here and google. the one i saw had PAGES of info on 22r and other engines to suit, with pro's and cons of each. Apparently it's not too hard to make the 22re go better, and u don't have to engineer it if u keep the original engine.

or retro fit V6 prado motor and gearbox maybe?
