I was out on the weekend shopping with the family when a nice young lady decided that she wanted to join me in the right hand lane. Unfortunalty she did not let me pass before merging and she slammed into the left front wheel of my GQ..........And my ARB side rails happliy removed the front end of here mums car for the trouble.......
Anyway after the accident and exchanging of details I continued on my merry way thinking nothing more of it........Then I got to 70kays on the freeway and the dreaded shimmy is back in the front end!!!!! Ok this could just be the fact the tyre is out of balance.......
Anyway Sunday I serviced the Patrol and greased it up as I usually do.....washed it down as oil always covers the front driveshaft(great design) and went for a drive.....Now I always select 4h after a service to spin the front drive shaft and expell excess oil water etc from the service........IT WOULDN"T ENGAGE....
I had to pull over and come to a complete stop before it would select and then when I moved off it feels like something is out of balance and I have a vide.......Also put it back into 2h and tried to select 4h but no go while moving.........Pulled over again and locked the hubs to see th result and there is a vibe in the car with just the hubs locked.
Now I didn't think the hit was that bad but obviously something is stuffed......Has anyone had this issue and were should I start?

2H to 4H not working and vibe with hubs locked
Re: 2H to 4H not working and vibe with hubs locked
Sounds like the front tailshaft - it might not be related to the accident at all though. What sort of speed are you doing when you're trying to go from 2H to 4H and vise versa? I usually either come to a complete stop, or have the car just moving to spin the gears a bit and help them slot in.
Re: 2H to 4H not working and vibe with hubs locked
if you have the hubs unlocked and try and move from 2H to 4H it won't go in unless your really slow or not moving at all, this is due the front tailshaft not moving and the rear tailshaft moving at road speeds, the gears can't engage, different story when both hubs are locked in, as the tailshaft is spinning due the CV's getting some action
