105 series Tranfer Case extension housing seal
To change the front end transfer case extension housing seal on a 105 series Cruiser, do we have to remove the transfer case or is there an easier way of doing it?
Re: 105 series Tranfer Case extension housing seal
Only ever done it on a part time transfer and that was a long time ago, but with them you can just rip off the front extension housing. May have to remove a couple detent springs and balls from the top though, there under the allen key headed bolts (use a magnet). Constant 4wd may be different, it would pay to get your hands on a workshop manual.

Thanks for replying mate. According to the Workshop manual, the retaining nut needs to be removed in order to remove the flange but the problem is it doesn't have a retaining nut. Might have to take it to the mechanic.

the retaining nut is inside the front housing, you wont see from the outside

Yeah, we used to pull the whole front extension housing off and then remove the front shaft to replace the seal. Didn't need to remove the rest of the transfer from the car though.
