dohc turbo for my triton?

hi guys i have an 1991 mh triton but the engine i have is getting high in k's 290+ and i was doing some looking around and from what i can see the dohc turbo 6g72 that mits put into their 3000gt is based on the same design so would one of these fit in place of my sohc nat aspirated engine without too much hastle?
or if you have a different suggestion my ears are deffinatly open :D

The 3000GT engine is a east west motor, I guess it would bolt to the bell housing being a 6G72 also. But you would have to make custom inlet, exhaust manifolds, reposition the turbos, move/swap alt and power steering and plumb up an intercooler. Not to mention the electrical system. You would want to get a 3000GT half cut to get the factory loom, ECU and sensors.

There is a topic on here about putting a magna motor in a pajero, would be a pretty cheap and relatively easy fix. But if the your motor is still reliable I wouldn't be in a rush to change it they will do a lot more km's than that if serviced properly. I'd just keep driving it and keep your eyes out for a cheap magna.

Yeah I'm curious about similair options myself, although need motor/ gearbox conversion due to fualty auto, repairable but I'm thinking about exploring my options.
although mines mid 400k motor still plods along but between that and gearbox issues.
that and I'm used to a 5spd falcon with a couple tweeks, so always feels dead considering how towey the falcon is. then hop in a 3sp auto 4wd. So I wouldn't be stressing about the motor going bang next week, although I can see reasoning 290k need major service shortly plugs/leads timing belt etc. few hundred due in parts shortly.
