well the first good bit about a 1.6 lwb will be the fact that its EFI,so alot better than the swb you mentioned but these motors as all motors have a few common problems, cracking heads, cracking blocks, flogged out keyways but in all are a great little motor and do the job well.just dont let them get hot.i have one of these g16bs in my sierra and it is great even with the small problem it has :?

i have no idea on the v6 other than what ive read about them being noticeably dearer to run but from memory the fuel specs werent that much more anyway.I think that the j20 4 cylender 2 litre would be the best motor but is only in the later shortys.i am unsure if they have common problems like doing heads etc but im sure a few blokes will clear that up
71kw and 133nM torque on the 1.6 up againt 100kw and 172nM in the 2 v6 will surely be a noticeable amount of power.

What sort of use do you have planned?bush basher?daily? or family traveller as i think the 1.6 would get a fair workout travelling too often and far
