Weird Clicking Noise from 80 Series Dash

Hi guy's,

Sorry if this sounds vague but one of you may have had this issue previously and being a relatively new Toyota owner it may also be a common problem.

I have a 1992 80 series 1fz-fe petrol and it's just started making a clicking noise from the dash cluster area but only when I am accelerating, once I am cruising the noise goes away. Could it be the speedo as I am suspecting? I'm hoping it's an easy fix because I'm going to NSW this weekend and it will really be annoying listening to that for 7 hours on and off!

If it's not the speedo does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?

dont accelerate


sorry seriously
does it do it while stationary if you give the accelerator a stab this will eliminate the speedo as the cause
also so no noise at all while cruising

Maybe you could remove the speedo drive from the back of the transfer case and go for a drive
