No power?????

Post by 878ROB »

Ok guys, its 12:03am and i have just returned from glasshouse mtns, I had the cruiser in the mud all day without any issues but once we decided to call it a day all my dash lights just lit up like i was about to start my car..... filter light, timing belt light and battery light, all these lights come up before the car is turned over. but when i was exited the last hill back to the road it would sometimes go out and then they would come back on again, I am pretty sure ive done an alt, but i want to hear more from people who may have had these problems.

cheers

It's the Christmas Tree lights. Standard fittment on Mall Cruisers. Happens every year around October to warn the driver of the approaching silly season, and that shops will soon have their Christmas wares up on display.

ill give it a go, my alt slowly charged the batt when the lights were off but then once my lights went on it just went really dull and by the time i got home i had no lights at all, im going to try running a cable direct to my batt once i check it with a multi meter, also the solenoid under my bonnet..... what exactly does it do??? im only running one battery aswell??

could be battery terminals if you've been in mud all day
or maybe try hooking up a different battery and see if it still does it

i changed the batt mate and it made no different, i did notice the alt had a nice crack in the case, but thanks to the guys down at gold coast 4x4 wreckers my new alt will be installed 2moro arvo sometime. lets hope that fixes my issues, when i pulled my alt out today and spun it, it was tight and had horriable bearing noise so i hope that it was buggered and this new one will help me get out of this hole im stuck in.
