I am wondering how to remove the O2 sensor from my Feroza? I noticed there is a head I can fit a 22mm ring spanner over which I’m tempted to attack with force, however I thought I'd pop the question on here as I know exhaust manifolds can be brittle.
Just got back from a trip to Lake Eyre. Unfortunately the corrugations combined with saggy (almost inverted) leafs equaled a broken exhaust. The good side is I now have motivation to install a set of Lukey extractors I have spare .
Don't waste your time of a used o2 sensor - they are a consumable part with a life of about 120,000kms.
There not hard to get ( Bosch make a replacement from their universal range, as probably do many others ). The vehicle will run better with a new sensor and get better economy -so its worth doing. All you will have to do is cut the Feroza plug off and fit the new supplied plug.
DO NOT SOLDER THE CONNECTION - CRIMP ONLY
Getiing the old sesnor out is unfortunately a brute force job - you can get a special socket with a slot for the wire, or if its a definate change then a spark plug socket will do ( you have to cut the wire.... ). Obviously a ring spanner will also work.
In all cases it may take quite some force.
( usual disclaimers )
It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
"Remember an oxygen sensor "breathes" via the connection wire sheath so don't crimp the sheath or use silicone etc else it won't work properly. Was able to reuse the old connector as the standard universal fit one was different""
Bosch oxygen sensor for a F300/310 ( HD-E ) is a 0 258 002 031
