1HZ turbo 100 exhaust

Post by TOY-08V »

hey guys,
just wondering what size and brand exhaust people are running, i was just thinking about running a straight thru 2.5 inch from dump pipe to back with no mufflers? Any suggestions would be great. (im only running 10psi boost).

cheers dan.

I don't understand people why pay extra for a brand name exhaust, what am i missing? Any decent shop can make you system to suit for less. 2.5 Would be big enough but I would be putting a muffler in as 1hz turbo are loud, well louder than td42 or 1hd etc etc with same exhuast.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

3 inch with the longest straight thru that'll fit on mine, has a throaty rumble but is quiet at the same time.. perfect!

I was thinking of a 3 inch but so many people have said 2.5 inch works better, i want a bit of noise but mainly want to get the engine breathing better, did you guys notice any difference in the way your motor goes with a bigger exhaust?

I'll third that aswell.

I got a custom job with a straight thru and it's pretty quiet, but you do get a nice note out of it down low which I like :D

another vote for 3". It made a big difference to performance in my 80 compared to the standard exhaust, far more responsive. I also run the longest full flow muffler possible. Nice rumble to it with out being too noisey. No muffler sounds like crap.

When i got the turbo for mine, it came with a 2.5" system, i asked about the 3" and was told that the 2.5" was all that is needed.

Any restriction after a turbo will reduce performance, the bigger the better, unlike an NA engine. Might as well go 3 inch for the exhaust, it can't hurt and is probably a similar price.
