Is that with the hubs locked in? Because then you're just binding your driveline...your mechanic will love you

Mate, what you're hearing is exactly that, binding up of the drive train, but not across one axle, it's from front to rear. When you turn a corner, your front wheels turn a larger arc than the rear. The skipping tyres is just the drivetrain unloading the tension that has been wound into it. This is why 4WDs as opposed to AWDs have 2H. AWDs have a differential on the transfer case between front and rear drive to allow the difference in speeds between them, particularly when turning corners.

Tell him to stop doing it.

i ve never come accross it before not that i drive around in 4x4 in the road, the only time i have had some thing like it was when i ran a different ratio front to back for a few weeks in a play car and to get out of high range i had to wheels spin then pull nutrual in the transfer before selecting 2H to go on to the the road. any way thanks this may calm him down a bit.

I think that's just a sign of a tight LSD.
Mine used to do it but now its older it s not so tight and doesnt do it anymore.
Cant explain why it only did it in 4x4. Just another of Nissan's little miracles.

Cheers

You mean there's even more of you people driving on the bitumen in 4wd? I'm genuinely surprised at the stupidity / ignorance of some of you

Where in your post did you say you weren't driving on bitumen? Seeing as this topic is about driving on bitumen then it's fair to assume you were, unless you mention otherwise.

Ignorance is bliss, till you break something because of your stuppidy

dont worry "nothawhiteGQ" he like fords that says it all :finger:

by the way the owner of the said topic was testing his gq as he had just swapped over the gear box and took it for a test drive before we headed of, i wouldnt have done like he did, but when he come back i had to hear him out and it didnt seem right to me, but after a weekend of thrashing the only thing that broke was his pride, after smashing 3 panels and snapping the rear panard rod.
but all in the name of fun.
