Old repco impact wrench.

Post by oldmate »

I've got an old Repco brand impact wrench on the bench in pieces. It wasn't working very well. The internals appear to be in good shape, bar a gasket on the back of it. There is no wear on the mecanical bits.

There is a part number on it, appears to be TPT-140. However the '1' was a bit damaged and is only a guess to it's actual value.

I'm thinking some new gaskets, o-rings and bearings will make it good as new, but my quesion is how good was it when new? It's got to be about 10 years old, at least.

Anyone got experience with old repco tools? I'm lead to believe the stuff they sell today is actually good quality stuff.

The current hand tools are made by the company that supplies Stanley and are good quality on the whole and there fore have a limited lifetime warranty. Repco air tools would have probably been made by an Asian supplier and built to a price not a standard, age would most likely be 20+ years old, if you post a pic I can probably tell you if it came from one of the better companies (IR, CP, Atlas etc).
In all honesty though very rarely is anything other than one of the above brands anywhere near economical to repair.
