Steve i think this fellow is talking about the RB30 patrol with is GQ, and im 99% sure that all the GQ radiator support pannels are the same,
Re: rb30 radiator/radiator support same as tb42 td42?
hey yer talkin about the gq rb30 petrol is any one 100 % sure that tb42 rb30 have the same radiator and radiator support panel? thanks
Re: rb30 radiator/radiator support same as tb42 td42?
All the GQ diesels AND the RB 30 radiators are the same. The radiators for the TB42 are the odd ones ....the hoses and filler are on opposite sides to all the others.
A good tip for those that have the RD 28...fit a 3 row radiator and add 2 extra strenghthening staps to those already there..ie...the straps that are the vertical ones on the core. Space all of them evenly starting about 6-8 cms from each end.
It seems the one of the reasons Patrol radiators fail is the popping of the soldered end frames from the continual flexing due to heating and cooling and pressure. Fitting these extra straps helps to minimise this ...altho the jury is still out as to whether it is a permanent fix or not.
I have done this to mine ....but is still too early to tell whether it is a long term fix. So far tho...the solders have not come apart in 3 outback/centre OZ trips and 3 years.
HTH.
Cheers Keith

I would think that the support frames in the GQs are all the same. Cant for the life of me think why they should be any different really.driftspec wrote:thanks keith so i can just wack a 4.2 gq diesel radiator in my rb30 wicked thanks you dont no if the support frames are the same do ya?

Re: rb30 radiator/radiator support same as tb42 td42?
All GQ rad supports are identical, TD42, TB42, RD28T and RB30
The Radiator from a TD42 works with the TD42 of course, RD28T and the RB30, the only difference is the shrouds as the RD28T and RB30 have offset shrouds so you will need the RB30 shroud, if you use the TD42 one your fan will hit the plastic.
Best radiator is a Heavy Duty RD28T as they are alloy cores, yes they are plastic tanks but they cool better than copper/brass. Allow transfers heat to air better than Copper.
