Online 8274 dealers for US delivery

Post by ash_on_mtb »

Got a US trip planned for late jan, figure with the dollar doing what its doing, might be a good time for a big ticket item...

I've got a delivery address in the US I can use, so I had a bit of an idea.

Want to order 8274 himount, preferably with the motor upgrade, and rope, strip the wire for weight saving and bring the thing home.

So I need some suggestions of suitable sellers in the states that could help me out, and do a killer deal.

OKOffroad for rope was one I noticed, but open to more suggestions as google isn't being that helpful.

Who have you used, or have you seen any amazing specials going of late...

Cheers,

have you looked into the weight of bringing it home? excess baggage can be as much as $30-$60 per kilo.

if you have no worries and enjoy!

No idea where to buy it from, I just deal with excess baggage hassels all the time and feel the pain!

or it could be slipped into my ski gear bag, and freighted back home with a whole bunch of other stuff from other people  :) Happy days! the wire would be the main weight component so taking that out of the equation would bring it back to being MUCH more acceptable. Not light mind, but acceptable.

gold - when we fly its a similar team type set up with lots of kit... but weight is always our biggest head ache.

dont count out using USPS...(not UPS) You could post it back to yourself. I have had many (over 60) items shipped from the USA using USPS with ZERO problems.... dont know what a winch weighs but have had complete 100cc chainsaws with 36inch bar sent no worries

cheers,

I have done this. And I wanted to do it again last week - so I looked into it again.

Last time I bought it from winch depot. http://www.winchdepot.com/Winches-Winch ... &t_pl=6407" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Carrying it back sucked. Its bloody heavy.

I ordered it to be delivered in tom for ryan to bring back (he was working there at the time and came home empty handed) but as the CC address was different to the shipping address It cost me a week and missed ryans flight.

I drained the oil, removed and threw the cable, removed the motor and side plate and packaged them separately.

65 odd kgs into and out of the us is normal - but watch as this is only on linked flights. I think each item cannot be heavier than 36kg.

They are not that cheap at the moment - the 8000lb low is on a rebate that makes it $550.
I paid $990 AUD for the highmount, but they appear to be more than that now. That was in 2007

UPS quoted $600 and us mail was about $400 from memory.

Regards,

Justin

Best I can work out, the wire weights only 12kg...?

.18 lbs per foot, 150 feet, makes about 27lbs
27lbs is about 12kg..

Thats not as good as I was hoping eh... :?

Even better if you know any US flight attendants, most get up to 80% discount of air freight.

Freight out of the US is terrible, I would love to know why it costs so much more from the US compared to, say, the UK.
