Bonnet wont open 89 GQ

Post by 89_GQTURBO »

Hi all,

have tried search but come up with nothing, im having major issues with my bonnet, it wont pop open anymore, after adjusting the cable a few times it worked, then it stopped. Ive found if someone is applying upward pressure to it it goes first time? Could this be because my bonnet stops are worn to metal nubs with duct tape on em and arent holding the weight up anymore?

Cheers

Dan

mine did the same thing. i took the bonnet lock off by the 2 x 10 or 12 mm bolts and washed it in petty to remove all the mud etc, sprayed it with inox/wd40/crc. then put heater hose on the bonnet stops and cut to height or you can use rear shock rubbers as they fit to. this fixed it for me. just make sure you set the bonnet catch at the right height when you fit it back on.
this also helps if it isnt catching/locking when you close it. good luck.
only the first roll hurts, then its a ride..
