NP vs NS School me please :)

Hi Guys,

Looking at the late 05 NP (with MATT) compared to the newer 06 onwards NS.
Apart from the looks are they really much different

Engine - The bible states that the newer common rail has slightly less power with common rail, I'm guessing that is due to the addition of a DPF. So apart from making it more expensive for a pump/injector rebuild is there any other difference Better economy maybe
Any other engine or engine bay differences known

Appointment - If comparing the Exceed, Platinum, VR-X, GLS, GLX, RX between the two models are they going to have the same goodies inside

Anything else worth noting

Like all vehicle specific groups there is a wealth of information shared by its members.
I've recently bought an 07 NS VRX and I've got to say I'm very impressed, it's very car like to drive and the turbo diesel is very torquey and economical as well. On a recent weekend trip the fuel economy ranged from 8.7 to 10 litres per 100 km so I'm very happy with those figures.
The 5 speed auto is a gem as well.
There are some known problems with differential companion shafts on some of the NP Pajeros and there have been some reported issues regarding the DPF's on some of the NS vehicles (I haven't had any problems as yet.)
EGR combining with oil vapour from the PCV to form a sludge in the inlet manifold and fouling the MAP sensor can also be a problem.
