my HJ75 troopie wont select 5th gear, all other gears select fine and there are no nasty noises.
are there any common causes that are easily fixable?
if i need to replace the gearbox will a 60series H55F gearbox bolt in with no mods?

On my parents golf course we had one that had the same problem. It ended up being a syncro was cracked. The only time it would get 5th was if it was at a stand still. After pulling it apart we ended up wrecking the troopy out and using the engine for the bore pump.

HJ/fj75 and HJ/FJ60 gearboxes are the same from 1984 to 1990. The HZJ75 then has the H55F but it had a fine spline front shaft where the 1984 to 1990 box had a coarse spline front shaft. cheers
