I have a GQ with a 5 litre holden conversion that runs the original power steering unit using a Marks kit. The problem is that it sits right infront of the throttlebody where I plan to fit a turbo/supercharger at a later date. I see some members have ran the Holden unit on the drivers side in original location so I was wondering the following:
How does the Holden pump compare to the Nissan?
Enough pressure & volume that it will work properly?
Approx how much for new lines to fit the Holden unit?
It looks like the Holden unit will hit the steering box...Hmmm!!!

Holden V8 into GQ (Holden power steering)
Re: Holden V8 into GQ (Holden power steering)
you can mod the holden ps bracket so it wont hit the steering box pretty easily.

Re: Holden V8 into GQ (Holden power steering)
holden pump is garbage!
33's with 15psi are completely un-drivable on the black stuff and off road there's no such thing as quick left to right maneuvering while going slow...
do your self a favour and mount the nissan pump!
i still haven't got around to it after nearly 2 years and every time i go out wheeling i kick my self..it;s on my to do list before Christmas!
it was a bit of a mission to fit in my GU, choped the holden bracket in half and mounted it higher up on drivers side!
cost for the high pressure side of the hoses was about $100 to fit up!

I had my holden pump rebuilt and boosted by yuri.....never had a problem with it, turns 35's with a sports steering wheel (smaller) easy as at idle.

Re: Holden V8 into GQ (Holden power steering)
i was under the impression that you could use washers and space out the valve or something like that to give better flow!?
but since i have my nissan pump at home i would rather mount that up get some confidents back in the wheeling department!
