With toyotas everyone raves about marlin axle seals.
Whats the go with patrols, are nissan ones best? or another brand specifically?
Messy bugger of a job so would rather do it less than more

front or rear?
I've never taken any notice of brands, they all seem to hold if you do it right and find the cause of the leak.
Have the seals let go or are you just changing them?
If they are leaking, 9 times out of 10 is caused by something else eg. wheel bearings, bent diff, bent axles etc etc. Cover all bases before you replace them or you will do it more than once.
Remember (if it is the front) to run around with your hubs in for the first 50/100k's to let the seals settle.

I was a spastic in a rush and came back form a wheel swapped my roadies on rattled them up and didnt check them by hand (which i normally do but forgot).
The nuts got loose the next day, tightened them up but im guessing the vibration of being loose must have let some oil through. seemed a little weak but i guess if there was any play in the bearings it could have agrivated it.
since it started leaking the leak has got worse and now leaves a teaspoon of oil where i park over night.
I have to pull the front end apart at some stage to drop my diff lock in so thought while im in there i might as well replace them.

Cant notice any play in the wheel bearings but planned to check them while i was in there.
Havent done any 4wding nearly rough enough in this truck to have bend the housing or anything like that.

well if theres no play in the bearings you could just undo your freewheeling hub, remove the circlip, then undo your swivel bearings to get in there (after undoing you scraper seals) just remember how many of those shims you've got under each swivel bearing. its quite a quick job doing it like that. It depends whether your diff oil has kangaROO TED your grease..
If your bearings are fine, don't fawk with them! I've tightened mine once in 2.5 years running 35's the whole time.
