wiper squirters not working

Post by v6triton »

Hey guys, got a 89 mits 4x4 triton, and washers squirters decided to stop working. They were working on and off the other day, but 2day they musta decided to call it quits. i put a new motor on the washer bottle but still no power. Do these things run fuses? if so, where are they located? Some one please help as my wiper are scratching my new windscreen.

Yeah, Sounds like a fuse eh ? You could google "Mitsubishi Triton owners manual" and download that. It will tell you where the fusebox is. The wiper motor should be on the circuit of something else. Is everything else working ? The wipers are on a hinge and lift off the windscreen. You could tilt them up and turn the wipers on. Use a test light to see if there is power to the wiper motor. Is the wiper motor making any noise ?

You might have to clean the contacts in the wiper stalk. Mine got proressively harder to turn on and given my experience with some of my other switches I decided to give it a go. It now works brillantly. I found it easily serviceable but be carefull as there are a few small pieces in there.

thanks for the replies guys, wipers work, no weird noises coming from wiper motor either, is there any chance of buying a brand new wiper stalk? im thinking, if im going to remove it to clean, i might as well replace it and let it last another 20yrs. I'll ring around tomorrow, see if this is a common problem with these models.

Have you pulled the tube off the pump motor to see if the pump runs, and it's just a blocked tube?

Get someone to activate the wipers whilst you stand next to the washer bottle. Listen and see if the pump is whirring away. I f it is, then it is a blockage, if not, it is electrical and you will have to chase back through the wiring to see where the power supply is interrupted.
