Clicking front end full lock

Ok so no its not the CV's as i just pulled out both sides and inspected, Not even a fracture.
When in 4wd with steering at full lock the front end clicks.
any idea's.

could be the bearings in your knuckle? i think there called kingpin bearings... where your steering arm connect to your knuckle on the diff. theres a bearing top and bottom. possibily collapsed? or wheel bearings.

How much lift have you got?
If any, have you got an adjustable steering arm?
The noise you hear could be the CV cup binding on the axle (or itself) at full lock (beyond it's working range because of the lift changing the geometry of the steering travel). Could be worth checking the stops on the housing too to be sure they're not letting the wheels turn too far.

Ok so bad day just got worse. As i had both sides off i decided it would be a good idea to fix the leaking swivel hub seal problem i have. Was having trouble getting one of the king pin bearings on properly and on attempt to remove it to have another go i have shattered the bearing casing leaving part of it attached to the pin.

So anyone got any idea's have tried clamping in a vice and hitting center out, just comes out of vice, also tried with heat.

Or where i can buy a new pin from?

Only has 4 inch lift but will check both in the morning

Cut away the old bearing carefully with an angle grinder. Hold the pin in a vice. It looks to be hard to get at but still possible.
Don't forget the safety glasses !

you can also weld the bearing peice to heat it up and it with come off
71 fj40 front shackle reversal +3" , 55 rear springs +3", 35 15.5 claws , 60 diff's 4wheel disc's , SOON TO BE WINDSOR V8 + 5 speed
74 fj40 stock but very clean
84 bj40 3b stock and unloved

Ok so used a grinder and then a cold chisel, went bit too far with grinder but nothing to be worried about. after finishing with grinder i figured i could have probably just used the chisel to wedge it off with, anyways thanks to everyone for help.

Still not sure if i have sorted clicking noise but will see tomorrow when i get oil back in diff.

Cool. Good to hear you got the bearing off. Hope there isn't too much damage.
I'd reckon BadMav has some good advice there. Try adjusting your steering stops in a fraction. I reckon this is almost certainly the problem. I'd say the CV becomes "beyond it's working range" and therefore clicks in and out. You're lucky not to break it !

Yeah thats what i was thinking only lift has been in for over 2 years now. However when i tried to adjust the stops yesterday, fully wound out they still didn't touch on full lock. May have to buy some longer bolts.

i would say the bearings would fix your problem mate. i wouldnt think that the stops would be the problem unless somebodys farked around with them.

Heavy hitting (particularly off road) will deform the stop brackets on the diff housing, effectively allowing further travel in the steering. It can also allow the rim of the CV cup to rub or pinch the inner axle seal causing it to leak.
Don't take life too seriously...it isn't permanent.

I say its your CVs. you wont be able to tell visually if there is a problem but thats what it will be.

Agreed. If you grab the CV bell in one hand and the inner axle in the other and twist them in opposite directions back and forth you will feel the freeplay that is causing the clicking.
