Ok we have a december 90 feroza 2 1.6 with power steering air con and electric windows which we want to turn into a comp rig only deal is there is a 2k bugget limit.
what we have is a pair of hilux diffs with 4.88s dose anyone know what the transfer case ratio is also could you bolt up a hilus trans case to the feroza gear box or even a hilus gearbox to a feroza engine.Remember reading an artical a long time ago that said a lot of parts were basicly toyota is this true.
Any help would be great
Thanks Duncan

Feroza Qs please help

Re: Feroza Qs please help
No Hilux stuff will not bolt to diahatsu bits.
4.88:1 ratios might be a bit to low if your going to run big rubber.... - however with only $2K to spend tthat would seem unlikely.
Going to be a challenge, there's lots to do and with no money ......... If "comp" requires an approved roll cage - your moneys long gone.
I'd say you will need to spend $15K on parts and do all the work yourself to have any chance.
However perhaps "comp" means something different to you than me.

( usual disclaimers )
It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Re: Feroza Qs please help
The comp is one run in WA basically build up a car for 2 grand and comp it (cage is not included in this 2 grand).
Easiest option would be to use a sierra (Team Carnage is using this as base) at least then you might be able to get a decent crawl ratio and ease of aftermarket gear.
As Mightymouse said toyota gearbox or transfer will not bolt up and 4L in feroza transfer is only 1.7 with no crawler gear available.
You would need to put a whole new drive train in the Feroza to make it somewhat useful for this comp.

Thanks guys the 2 k is ok as Im doing all the work myself we have diffs that came with a brand new lockrite in the front then was given a second hand locrite for the rear.Going to stretch the wheel base and link front and rear useing standard front 80 series coils .All the steel I get for free so only had to by control arm bushes.Got my tyre sponser to come on board with a great deal on some 35s and as said all safety stuff dosent come in your bugget so a full exo cage will be going on .
