hey all just after some info on some rims. I have negative 23-25-28mm offset rims i think they are? in a 15x8 on my hilux with 33s.Same standard deep dish that everyone else seems to run.

My question is does anyone know who makes or where you can get less offset such as 0 in sunnys without going to 16s????????they seem to list -5 or 0 in 16s with some brands.Any help,links,numbers etc would be great.

was thinking procomp would but they always seem to be so much dearer and a pain to get in town i think

they do a -6 which would help me thats for sure.I have to narrow my car up for engineering.

Be aware of clearance issues to your knuckles, brakes, and suspension. Look at the backspacing of what you have versus what you want to get.

i am sure i will hit my springs on lock with 33x12s if i go to a lesser offset rim like the engineer has asked for.But dont have many options with offset as i am not allowed more than 25mm in width increase of trak they say and my rims go over this.

would anything less hit the brakes as what i have now on the spokes is close.The vehicle has flares and everything covering the tyres properly but just too wide

Go for a lesser width, but with the same offset. This will reduce the backspacing of your rim giving yourself the extra 1/2" of clearance to the chassis/springs. The tyres though are still going to bag, and if you are caught between a minimum physical distance between th inner parts of your tyres (chassis/spring clearance), and the maximum allowed width by the engineer (outside of tyres) you may simply have to go to a narrower tyre

if i go lesser width i cant legally run my 33x12s on them,width being the problem.i am now just running standard 8s like everyone else.
the offset is what has put me over width off the spec sheet. so options are get a skinnier 8 which i can only find through procomp,all other brands you have to go to a 16" or put my 31s on 7" rims on and get it passed as that

Do what I did.

Borrow wheels that will see the Engineer happy then swap to your original wheels afterwards.

Not legal but how many 4b's are?

Strangly enough I had mine engineered with 10" rims and the Blue Slip guy didn't notice. The Engineer did and I just swapped wheels to keep him happy.

if i knew someone with pissy offset 8s i would look into doing it that way but i know no one with them except in the offset that myself and everyone else seems to run.

I have some normal looking sunnies that don't have the usual negative offset that were on my HZJ73. The previous owner had put wheelspacers on to make it look wider as they looked too skinny. They appear to be 15x8 with zero offset Landcruiser 6 stud pattern. They don't look anything special so maybe your local tire shop may be able to get some for you. Or you can buy mine.

Is it a Solid axle front? if so 0 offset won't fit, it will hit on the tierod end (even in a 16). There is 2 common offsets in a 15x8, neg 25 which is what you would have and the IFS offset which is neg 13. There may be others but they are the common ones. You won't fit neg 13s on a solid axle front without some major modifications to the steering

I'm confused.

Track is measured centreline to centreline, and is determined by the axle and the offset. If you have standard axle and standard offset rims for your vehicle, your track should be the same, independent of the wheel or tyre width.

What is non-standard, to give you a non-standard track?

Hilux's didn't have 15x8s standard, most had 16inch split rims, the SR5s had 15x7

the 15x8s will have a greater neg offset than split rims to avoid fouling on steering components, that is how rim size can affect offset. I see where you are coming from but the 15x8s have to be offset more to fit compared to the split rims. From memory the split rims are 5.5" wide so going to a rim 8" wide give on extra 2.5" in width, 1.25" each side ,and to keep the inside edge of the rim close to where the standard rim would be the rim gets more negative offset which in turn increases track

Didn't any '85 Hilux come with rims wider than 5.5"? Typically, you're allowed to base your modifications on any configuration offered from the factory. I don't know about '85 Hilux, but my '94 Pajero was available with 205s, 235s and 265s. AFAIK, any '94 Pajero can base their track modifications on the rims that came with the 265s. If any '85 Hilux came with -22mm offset rims, you should be able to use that as the basis for your modifications.

Find out how many wheel & tyre combinations were offered on '85 Hilux in Australia, and what the rim offset was for each. That's your starting point.

I'm running 256/75/16s on 16x8s with neg 26 offset. Is it over tracked? Most likey. I'm I concerned about it? Not particularly, as I'm not trying to get it engineered . The OP doesn't say what model hilux the rims are on so I can't say what rims were on it standard. I was just letting him know that using IFS offset or less 15x8s won't fit a solid axle hilux

ifs rims definitely wont fit as mentioned they foul on the tierod.

I think your between a rock and a hard barnsey! You might need to rethink whats most important to you and either change tyre size plans or bite the bullet and spend the extra coin to get closer to your ideal rim set up, but even then you can really go much less offset on an 8 inch wheel.
