What type of heavy duty control arms are there?

Post by vompie69 »

Just thought I would post this question up, what type of heavy duty control arms are there? We are now looking for our fourth set in approx one year. Genuine ones didn't last long, both bent almost 45 degree, then had fitted Wizzards chrome molly, they bent the next week, have had some seamless alloy ones now for a few months, bent it slightly, but did a really good job to both of them on the weekend. It is becoming an expensive exercise, desperate to find some that will last a while and take a bit of a beating. I welcome your input in this,

Thanks, Jane

try mild steel ones then you can bend them back into shape with a tube bender.
or to make them stronger weld a 50 x 8 flat on its edge on top of some mild steel ones then maybe add an angle underneath to protect against squashing

could you not make them out of solid mild steel rod, we picked up a set form big balls offroad for $400 or so, and they are about 50mm diametre, and real heavy.....just an idea

Mine are the Mal Leslie ones and they are still straight have some gouges, but no dents.
They where on Cheezy's car and most have seen the stuff he drives and they survived.

32NB schedule 160. Mine had flat spots ground well into them from dragging over shit, and they were still more or less dead straight.

Thanks for all your input, greatly appreciated. Have thought about welding angle onto them to strengthen and protect, but was told that it was illegal, and you could get fined big time, also plays with insurance too.

Thanks again,
Jane
