Eng warning lamp.

Post by daniel7000 »

The warning lamp on my GU comes on intermittently. Any idea why? Or how to get the fault codes out of the ecu. Also how do I reset the ecu?

which engine?

if its the td42 its water in your oil filter, open the tap below the fuel filter and drain the water. its the only sensor lol.

if its on a zd30 get it looked at asap or your christmas budget might be a wee bit smaller!

if its a 4800 i have no idea :finger:

ZD 30 is the engine after yours, the 3 Liter.

either way I would be getting the error codes asap to a rest easier or b stop potential damage.

good luck

I recently had to take mine to nissan for the engine warning lamp (I have a 2.7tdi) It was a short in the passenger side rear break light. No one told me it wasn't working, so I never even guessed it would be a light that would throw up the engine warning light, but I guess it is an electrical fault. Maybe take a look at the really basic things. BTW it cost me $280 for them to run the codes, then fault find/isolate sections in the brake wiring until they got to the brake light. They didn't charge me for the globe. Had I known all of this I would have done it myself or taken it to an auto electrician. Cheers

Thanks Goose Patrol

You need to bridge the 2 terminals on the consult plug, As you look at it there are 2 rows of seven terminals (It is not the same setup as the ZD30) With the ignition ON but not started, grab a length of wire and bridge the 2 terminals on the bottom left (see my rough guide below) Birdge for 3 seconds then remove and the light should start to flash, Repeat the same procedure to erase the code and remove the light till the problem comes back.

1111111
BB11111

The light will flash slowly then a break then faster flashes, so 2 slow flashes followed by 3 quick flashes would be 23 which is accell pos switch (which seems to be a common fault related to cruise control)

These are a list of the fault codes from my manual, I have these printed in the car all the time just in case.

Under the dash near the bonnet release. Its a semi rectangular plug around 50mm long.
