Bundera questions...

Post by Bundy problems »

I have just recently brought a Bundera lj70 turbo diesel, i've got a few questions about them, it's my first diesel so i don't know much about them. :bad-words:

First off the turbo was busted so i replaced it with the original one that was in it it was a CT20, but everytime i increase speed mostly over 80kph the amber light comes on and stays on until i take my foot off the accelator, it doesn't matter if i increase speed slowly it just stays on, is this normal??? I have googled it a few times and it goes on about the waste gate not operating propley is this true???

The other question is about the speed it does, it's just got 33'' geolander tyres on it now and it struggles to go up hills if i get a run up before a hill say i'm doing about 105kph by the time i get up the hill i'm doing about 75-80kph is this normal???

I'm putting a 2'' dobenison suspension lift in it on the weekend is this going to add to the lack of speed she already has???

Cheers :smilecolros:

sounds like it's one of the 2L-T motor Bundy's. They are the same engine as the Surf's and yes they are pretty gutless in stock form.

As for the light, aren't they supposed to be green when the turbo comes on boost? Maybe it's faded, but the way it comes on and goes off with the accelerator sounds normal.

Yes 33" tyres will suck even more power out of the truck, the gearing has been messed up by the bigger diameter tyres.

So i'd look at a couple of things, if you don't need the 33's. sell them and get some slightly smaller tyres.
Go to the wreckers and get an intercooler off a later model surf, and a boost controller off the interweb, then wind the boost up a bit, you'll notice a difference.

there's heaps of info on these motors on the Surf forums, so google them and have a look around.

cheers Chris

Does this 1kd not have common rail injection? Just curious because of the -FTE engine code.

Sorry about the thread hijack.

Also, is the amber light on the dash the airfilter light? (I'm not sure if the diesel bundy's have them) It could be a little blocked and when the engine gets spinning the pressure drop across the filter increases and turns the light on.

Thats as much power as a non-SIDI VE 6 Cylinder, and bucket loads more torque!

Out of a fracking diesel!

One for the Rocky?
