another tyre question

Ok I am sick of doing sidewalls, and I want some chunky, tough tyres for my hunjy.

Preferably around 35", now I have had a look at:

Maxxis- good price good tread paper thin sidewall
BFG- good tread not quite paper thin sidewall
Coopers - Chip too easy, good thick sidewall.

Are there any others I should be looking at?

Good wearing, Mud terrain, thick sidewalls, not $1000 a tyre....

MTZs dont wear too well on road. I would hesitate in buying them again because of this.

They perform well in most conditions, they handle pretty well on road too. I had no damage to mine on my 80series, but was dissapointed in how quickly they wore down on the road.

Seems the wear issue is only with the 285/75R16 sizes but

checked out mtz today.. much thicker sidewall than bfg.. I would say similar to coopers.. Think I found my tyres

where are you doing sidewalls?? what aare you driving to do them???

double edged question as i have never done one and dont know what to expect or where is a higher risk of doing them, ( id say mudd and soft ruts would be low, and rocks would be high) but am asking so i know.

and the other side is cause i run maxxis, and they work well, and i have not had any issues with my 33s to date, but dont want to have some in the future

I don't do anything hardcore (well i dont think it is) I have done 1 on rocks, 2 on soft sand (aired down and tiny sticks), 3/4 in a bushy state forest near home, two in the space of 30 mins... !! Maybe it's my driving style or something, but i just destroy sidewalls. have not had a normal tread puncture on a 4wd in about 7 years.

Goodyears have a good reputation for strong sidewalls. But IMHO I think you should stop mucking around and go to a proper bias ply tyre like Simex Extreme Trekker or Super Swampers

Mate you are just haveing a bad run I went through this same problem years ago didnt matter what tyre I run I would do side walls. None of my driveing was hardcore back then but every time I put new tyres on I would end up stakeing one if not two I too thought it was my driving style touch wood have not done one for years now.

Im running them on my 150 Prado 265/70 17 only done 4000km on them I love them big open tread blocks never bean bogged with them.
And good on the road not to noisey and good in the wet I think its the the center line they allways have good contact with the road.

I am almost convinced of getting some 34x10.5r16 LTB's... BUT from what I can gather they wear super quick on road? I don't have the ability to carry play tyres to the play area, and i do a fair amount of bitumen work. Bloody hell why can't they make a tyre that's perfect just for me?
