under bonnet shower

Post by DAZ »

Im wondering which or what is the best value/quality under bonnet shower system to buy. Im after the heat exchange one that heats water while your engine is running. Needs to work well im fitting it to a 2.8lt diesel i have herd they some times dont work well on a diesel, is this true?

I know there are a few brands what do you have and recommend?

How much is it worth? im expecting to pay some where between $300 and $450

Thanks in advance for your feed back cheers Daz

I made my own stainless steel outer with 3 x 5/16 copper tube windings. Gets too hot but have hooked it up to the wrong side of the heater switch. You need to control the heat using the heater slide in the cab.

I also just bought one of those caravan pumps off Ebay not long ago. Not for the hot shower though. I just use one of those supercheap $25 shower kits.

I have one of those heat exchangers like bru21 posted as well at work. They seam a little heavy. Was gunna sell on Ebay, but might try it out one day.

Think mine is the pirana one... Bru's old one. Best advice is use good hose.. get a decent sparkie to wire with good switches..

and make sure you get a pressure pump that will cut in and out via a switch close to the hand peice.... also get as low a volume pump as it is possible.. I got one for $60 from bcf.. think it has 9l/minute where as many others close start to 15l/minute...

and remember they still work when motor not running for those warm days when you dont want hot water up beach camping when rid of the salt from your b@lls .................... and off course altering your ac temp alters the wwater temp...

just the first couple of seconds water can scald so watch you kiddies...
