Anyone bought larger items through them in Oz?
I was looking at their leaf springs they sell and was thinking about them for my fj45. The length seems preety close to what my current springs are, and with the way the aussie dollar is at the moment i thought it might not be such a radical idea.
I guess postage would be a bit, (admittedly i havn't looked at this yet) but even for lighter stuff like shocks it seems alot cheaper.

Any thoughts?

I havent had any experiance with trail-gear but i buy all my gear from ballistic fabrication in the u.s the way the aud is the the usd it's worthwhile as half the gear in the states is way cheaper then at home atm

its cheaper too buy yes BUT don't forget, Postage, Tax (33% on stuff over $1000), custom's fee's (There is lots of little ones from $2.5 -$75 too $700) depending on what you get from where, there's LOTS too think about and add up.

and you realise there springs are for a hilux not landcruiser - hilux is a 60mm wide spring, landcruiser is a 70mm wide spring unless you have already changed this.

Called the Custom's as I was looking too bring in some diffs and a T-Case and that is what they told me.

i brought my 4 coil over shocks from ballistic fab 14" + 16" and the shocks themselve's cost $1480 AUD the freight was expensive but worthwhile i used FedEx it cost me roughly $560 AUD including extra weight,taxes,customs etc i used a fedex 25kg box which you can weigh upto 44kg's

If postage is a bit steep try a few different retailers in the US as there's heaps of places that will ship TG stuff to Australia.

Sorry for my ignorance in not researching that further before posting.I did notice there is alot on that site based around the tacoma but i didn't actually say anywhere that they were tacoma specific and after seeing the length of them (being preety close to my currents) it more sparked up interest of whether many people order from them or other international companies. Got most of the answers i was looking for. Work out your frieght cost and go from there. Might go down that path for shocks after a little more research.

Well aware of locktup, was only sourcing my options with the way the oz dollar is. For example the bilsteins i'm after are $75 each on trail gear and $399 a pair from locktup.
New to international buying so started a thread to hear from people who have done it. To find out about hidden taxes, frieght etc.
Would much rather support an australian company but on a small wage if the saving is noticeable im going to look into it.

I bought my bilsteins from the US, $149 the pair on ebay, and about $90 postage. All up with the exchange it cost me a bit over $250-

in regards to shocks, we at Locktup have just bought a whole pile of Billies at the current exchange rate, and will be updating the website pricing shorly. In the meantime please give us a call for some hot pricing.

Please keep in mind that being an Australian company we do have to charge GST regardless of the $1000 threshold, and also duty where applicable.

As far as springs go, Buddy is correct, the TG springs are Hilux springs. The springs we sell are not Trail Gear springs and are made out of Australian steel to our specifications best suited to our vehicle configurations and the type of wheeling we do.

Been looking at trail gear stuff for a while now because had a gutful of the aussie suppliers, but seriously dude freight is a killer hey... Been investigating nearly every option available for probably near 4 months now, have contacted probably over 40 to 50 different feright companies and contacted every trail gear supplier i can find both in australia and overseas, still cant find someone who wont charge a mint for freight, or exorbinate retail costs to make up for the freight
