ive got a budget of about $1300 and im looking at upgrading to 33/12.5/15 muddies, ive been looking at the BFG KM2 can get for $315 a tyre what else is out there thats a decent tyre, lookign to do a bit of bush/mud/rock driving as i have a set of 31's for touring

going on a 96 hilux with an EFS 3 inch lift

all feed back would be greatly appreciated

bighorns (762 and 764 style) and kumho KL71 will fit your budget (cheaper than the KM2) and terrains.

I have the Nankang Mudstars and at $170 per tyre for a 33 x 12.50 x 15 I'm wrapt in them. They have worn well under a GU that is my daily driver, they are a decent off road tyre, balance well and as I said the price is awesome

im happy to pay a little more for a tyre i dont have to keep replacing or reparing because it punctures easily, theres got to be guys out there using lots of different brands other then the maxxis

Well I'm having no dramas with strength issues and they are wearing better than my old BFGs did. Price isn't always an indicator of quality, strength etc

Grimbo, are they steel belted? They look pretty good for the price.

x2 on price as an indicator. My first set of 33" big horns cost $200 a tyre.

33 nankangs are undersize. 31.9

But cheap. Work good under a zook. My fronts are still about 80/90%, my rears are about 40% from a welded diff. Had them for at least 2 years. I have 2 cars though, but drive the zook more.

Never had a problem. No punctures.

Rears are getting abit slippery in wet now though. On the rough style old road tar. enough to spin in 4th gear..

Ive been both ways, had cheap tyres and top of the range.

Between my last 4 sets of tyres i have owned
Cooper STT 33"
Baja Claw Radial 35"
BFG KM1 33"
And now i own a new set of 33" KM2's on my patrol, they are amazing and much better than the last 3 sets i have had on.

my KM2 just arrived today - not mounted to rims yet but they feel awesome... the compound is like silicone, soft but doesnt budge (if that makes sense?) they also feel very soft, as in you can push on the top of the tread and cave the tyre in a long way by hand, so i'm betting they bag out very well offroad.

I have 33x12.5" Kumho KL71s on my Lux..... totally outgunned my mate's 32" Maxxis Bighorns in the slop last weekend....put it down to a combination of the size and the tread pattern.... the Kumhos are pretty aggressive and excellent in the mud. 1" wider than BFG and Maxxis too. Wearing pretty well, good on road. $315 each from Ryano at Fourby's when I got them....Bargain! I'd buy them again...maybe in a 35"
