They were using the King 2.5" shorty bump stops.

The bump pad on the axle looks sufficiently high in relation to the lower shock mount...

Re: bump stop mounts
ok then, looks like the shock would come mighty close to bottoming out, i'm sure its been cycled and doesn't, maybe just an illusion from that angle

Re: bump stop mounts
radius arms swing in an arc as-well, which would definitely make the bump stops hit before the shocks bottom out.def90 wrote:ok then, looks like the shock would come mighty close to bottoming out, i'm sure its been cycled and doesn't, maybe just an illusion from that angle

Re: bump stop mounts
if they are setup properly (which im sure they would be) the bumps will bottom out before the shocks bottom out, i dont see how that is riskySIM79 wrote:x2 Bumpstop fail, expensive shock destoyed!!def90 wrote:excuse my ignorance but aren't your bumptstops mighty high in comparison to your shock?
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

Just looking at it I tend to agree with SIM79 & def90 as the pics visually (can't make true judgement without real measurements) don't add up. The travel distance for the Bump to work effectively looks longer than travel on shock. The nose of the bump should be lower than the shock body where in the pic it looks roughly the same as does the coil locator & shock stroke limit at rod eye end.

Re: bump stop mounts
ok, i just "measured" the distance very accurately and it measures like it will be fine...

Re: bump stop mounts
Becareful with those shocks without limit straps. The Slingshot boys had nothing but trouble with the King pin to pin shocks at this years OBC.
The welds held, it was the parent metal that gave away.
(the distance doesent add up )
cheers smitty

innovation is better, better is faster, and fast is all that counts
Re: bump stop mounts
Looks alright to me.
The bumpstop striker plate is alot higher than the lower shock mount and that should accomodate it.
