2h oil pressure relief valve plunger
Does anyone know where I can get the oversized plunger from for my 2h.
They are on ebay for $80, a bit overpriced for me.
Cheers.

Re: 2h oil pressure relief valve plunger
we bought one for $30, but think we tracked the place down by calling some mob in qld and they reffered us to some one in blacktown (or surrounds).
I found the place in qld by searching outers using google. sorry its not a straight forward answer but you will find it if you keep looking.

Re: 2h oil pressure relief valve plunger
I picked up the oversized plunger and spring from eastcoast 4x4. The spring supplied was about 25 mm longer than the current spring. I fitted the plunger, the spring was the wrong one. Fully compressed the cap would not screw down, so I installed with the current spring.
My problem was low oil pressure.
Oil pressure was noticeably higher but not in the limits on the gauge(I know these gauges are inaccurate).
I removed the current spring and stretched it(a lot).
Oil pressure was higher again.
I took my 86 troopy for a long drive oil pressure was not diffrent every time I stopped(but higher than before).
I will call east coast 4x4 and sort out the spring problem in the morning. I am almost certain with the right spring all will be ok.
Daniel.

The spring should be the same length. I thought I would just replace mine to be safe. I thought the one they sent was an upgraded spring. But I really have no idea. I will call east coast 4x4 today and let you know

i dont see any reason a new spring is needed, as the thickness of the head of the plunger is the same, so the spring should be the same.

Re: 2h oil pressure relief valve plunger
The reason the spring is shorter will be because its lost some of its tension or free length. Which by the sound of it is why it has low pressure, the spring losts its tempering i spose you'd call it and will crack off at a lesser pressure.
There would be a free length measurement what the spring is supposed to be in a toyota workshop manual or similar.... But stretching the spring will be nothing but a temporary fix.

Re: 2h oil pressure relief valve plunger
had to do this too, didnt replace the spring, my oil pressure is fine, apart from using oil, then ig goes down fill her up and it goes back up.
had to do it on mine cause it was jaming, its a nice feeling crawling in a puddle of 10 litres of oil every 1000 ks cause your oil fileter decided its going to grenade....... did it over a year ago, no problems since.

Turns out the spring sent was the wrong one. Correct spring on the way. Free length for an original spring would be great info if anyone knows?
