2h cylinder liners

Could anyone tell me the length of the bore liner in a 2h from a HJ60? please. I would like to know if you can get the liner out of number six while the engine is in the car.

ok! mute point! engine is now out and will get full rebuild.

OK liners are 185 mm long, and I needed to pull the motor to get them out! the crank was in the way of the puller.

mines a 84 2h and its a shocker on fuel...
the later model 60s...engine....
ive read get heaps better fuel.
ive done the berrima treatment...
and still like 17l to a 100..around town or highway.
4spd..
i recently kept the revs to where the torque is...2200? and no better... a litre if that...

i read on here people get 10 to 12....at worst 14......i NEVER GET THAT..
best i ever got was 14ltrs....ONCE......it was that foggy on a trip away i couldnt drive faster than 60 to 70..
vision was terrible....
ive had it for 10 years....rebuilt...
im scratching my head.....

i have a 1985 2h 5speed troopie australian army delivery stock untouched for 20 years 500,000km on it and get verry close to 10l to 100km freeway or city driving.. but an't no rocket

The worst I've got was 17l/100km, that was loaded and towing (6000kg total), turbo, running on the rich side and giving it everything. As far as I'm aware the cylinder liners were the only major change in the lifetime of the 2h and I can't see how that would have such an effect on fuel consumption. I'd say something wrong with your fuelling system - too rich, timing out or fuel control issues (diaphragm?)

hi dog breath and others....
ive had the motor rebuilt at 130,000......
air intake hose from air filter to motor inlet crack at the ribs near the 90deg elbow 3inch if you get me.....
rebuilt it.....hose cracked again......GOT IT the weekend it did it..

fuel pump timing..checked ages ago by wodonga diesel......slightly advanced
idiot mechanic fueled the pump up just a little too much...who rebuilt the motor...(not berrima or wodonga diesel.)
it now revs freer.....that was actually done by wodonga diesel....they fixed what the mechanic shouldnt have touched....(i never knew.)

since moved up the coast for work.....
took it to the renowned berrima diesel..
they lubricated the diagphram.....
FULL INJECTOR SERVICE.....800 bucks..
injectors were fine...

i felt a bit more power after the treatment......
but i spose im used to it now, smokes a little less....
but economy is terrible...
fantastic ute for the bush....never ever let me down and im hard on it...
but the economy is woefull...

i run a finer filter air filter.....regularly cleaned.....sometimes 2500k.....and it needs a wash!!
3inch snorkel....all made myself....and 3INCH INLET welded to the air filter unit.....
that made a huge difference to power....i felt.

yes 4spd
my cousin had a 60 with 2h 5speed.
dont know the year model he bought 82 to 84.....
he had the same economy as me...
he wasnt running any heavy gear.....
always empty ....i mean toolboxes winch and stuff...to cause the fuel to go up.

all later model engines are better than previous..
as they are better on fuel and power otherwise why update...
see it in the manufacturers brochures all the time.

mines a 89 model 75 with 2h, and it still only gets the 17l to 100 ks. thing is as gutless as possible, anything even a chev would be better....

i dont want to waste the money on getting the pump or injectors serviced, as i would rather put it towards a 12ht. but still i think i could ride a snail faster than my 75

motor is nearly back running. all done on the cheap
head done for $400 new seals and a couple of dodgy valves . all redone.
complete kit for engine $920 inc pistons and bores.
$180 to get sleeves bored to match new pistons.
$420 to get my injecters rebuilt to the specs that best match my fuel pump. new idler diaphragm in pump.
new release bearing for clutch.

i was getting about 15litres per 100 kms but had no power. it smoked like a bastard, especially when off the throttle. i found two cyliders had broken compression rings and 1 also had an oil ring kaput.I found that in the sump. nil damage to any bearing or journal surfaces, all is clean, no sludge.
my father in law is doing most of the work in between jobs at his workshop, i've just done the donkey work, cleaning surfaces, pulling out the sleeves, etc. will be going there soon to see what stage i'm at. thanks for all the replies.

My 60 2H turbo used to get 14-15l around town with 35s bar winch etc.

I'll put a new fuel filter in it this week and report back with 32's.

I had the injectors done, pump adjusted and dyno'd when it was Turbo'd about 4 years ago.

Lot's of things you can try to get better fuel economy but apart from filters getting a dyno tune, injectors serviced or a pump rebuild you'd need to be saving a lot of fuel for it to be worthwhile.

hey i got a 1000cca start battery from catterpillar......for like 145...175 delivered.
it has some serious GRUNT.
rip the starter motor off id wreckon it started like lightning turned SOO QUICK!!!
...and CHEAP AS...4 year warranty.....
how good is this.
same size....12inch long.
No battery can compare for the price to CCA range..
check them OUT...

try running thin road tyres on max recommended psi fuel economy improves enormously....

i had 16 split steelies with dunlop grippers......
man that was scary sometimes in the wet...
or just normal.
running 15inch 33 12.5....bfg mud.....old pattern.
so much safer driving with the extra rubber to the ground...
i can actually hit corners heaps faster with confidene than on skinnies.

IT LIVES! without any issue apart from a couple of weeping fuel connecters it turned over and ran rather sweetly. a bit of bleeding and it was apples. bonnet back on tomorrow, a good washdown and home tomorrow.
