gearbox will bolt up to the motor, ring gear is the same so the torque convter should work. and the transfer case will also bolt up.

are the gu autos stronger then the gq auto?

mate,

i looked into this a couple times - and again very recently when i blew my auto.

It will bolt in - the the electronics are different. Apparently the box with remain in top gear and not shift. I have heard (2nd hand info) of a couple doing this.

I wasnt prepared to take the risk.

Cheers

the only differences i know of with a gu auto you can lock the stall in any gear if you are using a manual lock up control where as a gq box can only lock in top as they have different valve bodys but if you run a wholesale automatics stage 2 valve body you can lock a gq one in any gear so there cant be too much different

i was speaking to Rodney at wholesale on friday and he said all patrols run the same re4r03a transmission so the wiring would have to be pretty much the same

A GQ auto will handle the v8....been there done that. As for bodylift, the car we did it in already had one so not sure if it was required or not...
