Full injection service and tune

Post by thehanko »

Im looking to get the patrol TD42 looked over and loved as it blows way to much sooty smoke and has modified pump and turbo etc so want to get it done by someone who good.

Berrima seems to be the go but looking about $1380 to $1500 for the days tuning - but they go over everything from compensator to tapets to timing, check the turbo, new nozels ($1500 end with new nozels) etc etc.

but a heck of alot of money to spend on a truck which is not being changed - just worked on.

eg, I can have new injectors for a third of the money fitted myself etc etc - is all the rest worth it?

Have others had this service and have opinion if its worth the money?

Or is there somewhere else to consider going?

Cheers
Ben

From what I can tell Berrima are fairly conservative in regards to performance. They are about 2kms from my house.....
The only others that I have heard of or used that have been good is Cooma diesel in ACT/Queenbeyan.
I have had bad dealings with a shop out Camden way but others seem happy with them and that was about 4 years ago so things may have changed.
I have used Silverwater auto service for a petrol turbo and couldn't be happier with what they did. They found underly problems that others didn't.
I did ask them about diesels and they said yes but you may be best to sus them out yourself.

Maybe do the injectors and tappets yourself and then get a pro to do the pump timing and tuning.
