fj40 - 60 series Power Steering Conversion

Post by c110gtr »

Hi

I'm planning to do a 60 series power steering swap as I need more room for the extractors for my 351 C
Its currently running a 4x series power steering

now if I use the 60 series steering box do I need to move the battery as there wont be any room?

Also if anyone's got a 60 series steering box & 55 series column or any column that would fit this conversion pls PM

Thank you.

Hi mate, you can retain the original battery carrier but will need to modify it to suit the box and steering shaft.

You could use a holesaw on the battery carrier so the intermediate shaft can stick through it, have seen that before.

cool thanks

anyone here got pics on how they modified the 7x series column to fit the 60 series conversion?

it would take a long time to get a hold of a 55 column

I've got a 70 series column already modified to fit a 40 that I will sell. Have been running it in mine the last few years, but recently swapped in a modified standard column.

PM me if interested.

I have block hugger extractors on my chev with standard power steer and there is plenty of room. Have you looked at getting a set for your V8?
