Re: Gu patrol door lock
If there is an aftermarket alarm/imobiliser installed, these sometimes can cause this behaviour by design. although it should happen everytime.
When you remove power and then put on power to an aftermarket central locking relay box it will usually trigger locks so maybe it's not wired to power permanently????
Maybe power spike is being interpreted by relay box as a trigger pulse to lock/unlock. If you have a spare 12 v battery around, you could connect the relay box to run off it temporarily and see if you still have the fault.
And if you don't know what i'm talking about or it is a factory central, take it to an auto sparky.
Cheers

Re: Gu patrol door lock
Sorry, to clarify. Connect spare battery to relay box only.
Keep your normal battery connected and used for everything else.

Re: Gu patrol door lock
My alarm has this feature and it also randomly did it (or so I thought).
I soon figured out that the doors only locked if they were shut when the car was started. If the doors were open when the car was started, the doors obviously wouldn't try and lock.
Just a thought...

Re: Gu patrol door lock
Mine reacts the same, it's an OEX unit, pretty generic system to fit by Auto Electricians as it's a black wire system and it's pretty reliable.nabstud wrote:My alarm has this feature and it also randomly did it (or so I thought).

Hey,
Just to close this one out. It did end up being the alarm system - i had flattened the battery about a week before and must have just not started the car with the door shut for about a week.
Turns out that the alafrm had reverted to factory settings - which turns on the anti.hyjack feature - locks the doors.
Found the manual and all good now.
Thanks for everyones help.
