hey guys
i got the 4.2 fuel injected motor in my GQ. it has the auto behind it. my question is are there and if so what mods can be done to the auto to try get some more low down torque. it has got a shift kit in it but thats about it. i just noticed for the first time on the weekend that on a reasonably steep hill climb i didnt have the power to pull through some soft dirt at the top. i know the obvious here is to turbo the engine but the funds arnt exactly up to that at the moment, so was seeing if there were any other mods that can be done??
noting also that i run 35's.
thanks
adz.

Leave the engine, change your diff ratios to 4.6 or get some lower low range transfer gears

I got 4.1diff gears so not so bad. Am wanting reduction gears just don't have the cash at the moment. Thought there were some cheaper things to do with the auto.

Re: more torque from TB42E
Hey, I've got a GQ 4.2 efi manual with 4.6 gears in mine, running 35"s and think the torque is a load better since changing over. Also your speedo won't be as far our either.Only other thing to consider is putting extractors and a upgraded crow cam in it,because the cam is made for more power and low down torque for the bush/towing,cheers glen.
Re: more torque from TB42E
would extractors help a 4.8 with extra torque as well ???
Re: more torque from TB42E
yeah i got extractors and the exhaust gets done in a few weeks. ill see if that can generate some more power and will then have to seriously start looking at getting reduction gears done.
