Patrol/cruiser diffs under Hilux

Post by scottm7 »

Has anyone put Patrol diffs under a Hilux? I heard that the front diff pumpkin doesn't fit the chassis real well, is this true? Does anyone have any photos?
How about landcruiser diffs? Do they have the same problem?

The pumpkin on the patrol front diff sit further outboard than the cruiser diff. The pumpkin will hit the chassis rails using the patrol diff unless you have a big lift and limit up travel. Not sure about the new hilux's, might have a wider chassis.

the pumpkin on the chassis isnt really a big concern. you will still destroy your gaurd on 35s well before the pumpkin hits. ive done it in a 3 link plus panhard on a hilux running 39s and 80 series radius armed gq diff in a "fast" hilux on coilovers. had 6 inches up and 6 down on 33s.

the big tyred lux had about 4 inches bumped up and 8 down. the lift without tyres was about 3 inches, maybe 4 and the pumpkin was a fair way away from the chassis
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
