35s under a mk shorty

Post by rustysrangierecks »

i have a mk shorty with a sd33t and 5spd. it has a 2in spring lift ( the spring works told me that it has sagged to 1 1/2in).

i was wondering what would be the best and safest way to put a set of 35x12.50s under it. im not a big fan of body lifts. i was told all i need is a 2in lift and trim the gaurds??
any opinions are much appreciated

i had a mk with brand new 2 in lift and i had 33 and i bent the gaurds under full flex you will need at least 2in body lift and still may have to cut a little

I had 37's on a ute, so can only comment on the front. I trimmed about 2" off the arches, and adjusted the steering stops so the tyres didn't hit the spring packs. I also had dramas with the tyres ripping out the indicators when the tyres compressed into the guards.

If you're not scared of trimming the guards, do that, and get some bigger bump stops to limit compression.

The springs i was using came out of a SWB, and they were stock. I had a load spring removed from the rear too.

Guards are cheap.

I got 35" tyres under mine with only 2" shackles and a guard chop.. didn't rub at all apart from the indicator backing plate at the front of the front arches, but a little bend and that was fixed :)

you can have 35's with 2inch body no suspension doesnt scrub, then put 2inch suspension and 36 simex centerpides fit straight on with guard chop
