d22 navara power problam

Post by xx.45_UTE.XX »

ok im hopeing that someone els has had this problam because it has stumped us and im running out of ideas

what the moter is doing is under any sort of acceleration (foot flat or easeing the power on) even overtakeing on the highway.. the moter lurches the power on and off as if the moter is missing or sumthing, it doesnt it about 70% of the time your driveing it... origionally we thaught this was a fuel issue .. so weve changed fuel filter and run 3 tanks worth of injector cleaner throught it ... the problam is still there .. it almose feels like the turbo inst working like it should although you can here it.. weve checked everythin we can see like fuel lines, vacuum hoses turbo pipeing.....everything......

hope someone can help..
cheers

Does it blow smoke (ie black smoke) at all?
Sounds like a fuel delivery issue- have you purged air from the fuel lines, fuel filter and ensured there is no air trapped in the pump?

Or possibly its engine management- does it have an aftermarket chip?

Can it be put on a dyno to replicate what its doing?

i forgot this is the 3 ltr turbo model .. non intercooled

no black smoke no and we have have a problam b4 when we changed the fuel filter and air got stuck in the system but that bread out real easy and the moter ran fine.......
is there a air bleed on the pump its self at all???
and no , no aftermarket chip

it seems to be right in the boost range as if the wastgate is opening and closeing rapidly if you know what i mean? its a dramatic power on, power off, power on, power off feeling

Try putting it in 5Th gear when you are driving at say 80 and report back to me if it still does it.

most likely the gearbox neutral switch is going faulty. often just holding the gearstick over will temp fix it. otherwise disconnect the switch.
if it feels like its taking off rather than missing it can also be to much oil blowing out of the breather or leaking turbo seals.

Yes it is a power limiting switch for when its in nuetral and they fail OFTEN

Easiest way is on a hoist or just climb under it and disconnest the switch , can remember if its the back one or not, anyway its right under where the gearstick boot is.

Yeah its the black plug located around the center of the gearbox on the right hand side.. as said just unplug it, im not sure this will be the problem though by the way you explained it, it normally only does it in the lower gears and not rapid or harsh, just no power coming on.

cheers mark.

yep that was the problam guys ... thanks alot... it is a $59 replacement part from the nissan....

we found it was only failing in 3rd, 4th and 5th , so we unpluged the swich and it started working fine again and the reason it was gutless in those 3 gears was that it was not working at all when the gears were selected and the lurching was caused by the swich actually working for a split second over and over giveingit power

thanks alot guys
