help with toyota diffs

Post by rangiedaz »

i need a little help with toyota diffs and ratios . I am currently running toy diffs in my landrover ,bundera high pin in the front hilux in the rear running 4.3 ratio the rear looks like a 4cylinder hilux diff. my questions are .
1 Are there any strength differences in toy ratios im thinking of going from 4.3 to either 4.56 or 4.88
2 Is the rear centre from a v6 forrunner different to 4 cylinder , if so is it stronger
3 What is the best brand of aftermarket ring and pinions for toyota

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my knowledge of toyotas is limited

Cheers Darren

They say that the numerically lower ratio gears are stronger, as there is more teeth on the pinion.
V6 thirds are different to 4 cylinder ones, but I dont know that there is any real strength difference.
I believe Nitro gears are pretty good. I used these in my 9" thirds. Yukon, Precision, Motive, AM have a good reputation.
