HI all,
I have recently put a 2" body lift in my 01 Hilux and I am after some general help. I have modified the gear sticks to match lift and took the bullbar off to modify it to suit the 2". It is an ARB bullbar / winch bar. After messing around trying to think about the best way to mod it and keep the strength to continue having a winch I came to the conclusion that i do not have to skills or tools (only a very old stick welder) to do it properly.
Was wondering if someone around the Melbourne/Ballarat area has done this mod before or would be interested in undertaking this work.
Send me a PM with your details and i'll give you a bell to talk timing and cost.
If anyone has pics of how they have lifted their bullbar 2" that would be greatly appreciated as I cant get my head around it without butchering it.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Help needed- Modding bullbar for body lift
I modded a Hilux bullbar to my sierra and welded mounts to the top of the chassis. After 2 years of pondering, the only reason i resorted to welding was cause there was no room to bolt anything. I'll try to russell up some pics to give you an idea. Welding is fraut with issues, and is absolute last resort. Perhaps send some pics of the existing mounting for members to comment? Surely an adaptor plate would be your first objective, just in case you decide to take the body lift out! Start with a cardboard design, maybe produce one out of aluminum sheet, and take that to your local steel fabricators. Minimise the amount of bends and welds, and supersize the material thickness and steel grade. Use big (rated) bolts and go overkill if thats your consern.
The best thing about having 2 cars, is when you stack one, the other breaks down in sympathy! Can I bum a lift?
