1 at the event is bad enough
It will never be a buggy event. We still need to get together and work on next years rules and regulations. Tony and I briefly spoke and both agreed that our event is a short course 4wd competition that caters for trucks that probably could be registered but aren't. We aren't holding a tuff truck competition either, some of the vehicles that have previous competed at Toperi may not fit the new regulations. Its still to early and at this stage to say. When we have decided which direction Toperi is heading we will let everyone know but be assured 2011 will be great.

Nice, keep us posted with the updates.

Sounds great but as others have said, just don't let it get to the stage where you have to have a $100,000 buggy just to be competitive.
Dont change whats not broken.
Keep the layout the same, keep the club involvement the same, maybe just relax a bit on the vehical setups. We already have 1 Tuff Truck with the big money trucks, dont really need another 1. Keep it so the average joe in a club can build up something and have a go.

This is exactly what we will keep the same, we want virtually the same cars that turn up now without the need for rego. It will always be club based, and a team event. Its going to be difficult to word the rules so that you can not go too far with tube work and become half a buggy. We are thinking original chassis with no width modification, original firewall windscreen and floorpan. We will put plenty of thought into it.

I havnt seen it mentioned , but the only thing that i dont like is having to finish stage three to run four. Sure the the thrill of qualifying is there, but it only lets the best of the best through...gaining more points to win, so in my opinion it favours the bigger budget trucks to take the booty.
It was quite surprising to see a lot of trucks getting to 4 considering conditions this time, but prob minimal time left to make anymore descent points
Or someone can let me know if i missed the point of running it that way

If you look at the top five place getters, none of their cars were anything to special. Good clean drives is what will win any 4wd event. Look at what won Tuff Truck 2010.
The Toperi event is loosely based on how the On All Fours club ran Woodpecker when it was at Dargle.
Those who choose to drive in the mud do so because they can't drive the rocks.

I'm offended Glenn, my truck is special it has 4 different paint colours
Was there a trophy for 5th place this year? I couldnt hang around for the presentation as my wife and daughter would have killed me if they had to hang out in the pouring rain any longer.
I have found over the years Toperi is an event where smart driving will get you much further up the score board than driving the courses at full noise

I was navi for team1 and we had both cars in stage 4 and there nothing to special, GU and GQ on 37's and we had just under 8 min for stage4
80's on 33' km2 and bling wheels, 2" lift and a big wish list

Aint no BIG BUDGET trucks here but yours!!
The 2 Zuks that went into stage 4 with 14mins 40 sec to spare did NOT need to drive it. The points we had after stage 3 was enough to win the event. Do I realy need to say anymore

we have the trophies, the money we spent at the pub.

But then there is the thing of actually being legally road registered... How many of you would have changed rego stickers and number plates??? Bloody heaps. The scruitineering is a bit of a farce and the cheating is vast. I drove a car in the event that has had heaps spent on engineering and road worthy stuff. It is currently my daily drive. Bet alot of you could not say the same. The rules should not change. It should stay registered vehicles.
Make it harder for the cheats to use their hydraulic "gizmos" and actually get them to drive well.
I look forward to your banter on that.
Why is it that everything I love costs so much money !!!!

i dont think there would be as many as you think who cheated.
tyres are obviously one thing that wouldnt pass rego.
but the vast majority of trucks there would be registered, i would be suprised if any werent registered currently.

Ok so i need to drive around my local shopping center a few more times
Interesting about those points accumulated, good drive by the way. I get the point, but it seems a waste when all the effort to build 4, if a team times out or busts on first stages, and only a few drive it, the marshals were there to cover it.

Come both those are special!! They have badfab stickers on them
I personally think that Toperi's current track rules are perfect..
We have competed at all 3 events and at 2 of those we have had time to drive track 4 with both cars. The 1st year I drove my car to and from the event and this year the GQ drove to and from the event.
It is funny when you look thru the results and see where some of the big dollar trucks did actually finish!!
No matter how good your truck is if you can't work as a team and think about what your going to do on a stage you don't really have a hope of winning

No rego makes sense. Look at Tuff truck a few years ago! The event organisers and the competitors may have wound up in all sorts if a serious accident occurred. No one wants to lose their lively hood for what should be some fun on the weekend. Im sure the people running Toperi will come up with a clear set of rules. All competitors are better off knowing that they are properly covered in the event of an accident.

Just like Rob said, they didnt even need to drive track 4 to win. I wonder if thats why (in my low budget gq) i drove further than you on course 4 with less time. My 3 navis just decided to make the toperi guys work a bit harder by letting me take out most of the bunting

You've hit the nail on the head, most of the trucks competing at Toperi probably wont pass an rta inspection, therefore there could be complications if an accident happens. To have a field of road resisted legal trucks is near impossible....Have you been to a round of the 4x4 masters. I ventured down for round three and there was possibly 25 trucks competing. Did I see you there?
Those who choose to drive in the mud do so because they can't drive the rocks.
i wouldnt say the scrutineering was a farce though.
they checked my rego papers, checked the vehicles safety items then checked the recovery points.
the only thing they didnt ask for were engineers papers but i had them in the vehicle.

What? you skipped the first climb and took a short cut up the creek?
