GQ - longer bump stops, what have u used?

Post by sidewayz »

hey,

need to make some longer bump stops in my gq as with the diff bracing on top of the housing it is able to hit the sump.

Is there a bolt in longer rubber bump stop? or is a custom fab job?

Other option i was thinking was leave the factory rubber bump stop there and tack weld something of the right height to the top of the diffhousing where the existing bump stop would press.

thoughts?

cheers-

How much longer are 80 series bump stops? do they just bolt into where the original patrol front bump stop bolts? any idea on cost?

I was also thinkin about measuring exactly how much longer they need to be. Then welding some box section cut to size on the dif housing and leave the original bump stop as is.

I used a round puck with a hole in the middle and sat in bottom of spring seat. I put a bolt thru the middle.

the 80 series bump stops are a little longer but much softer so if you use them you do need to space them down. I bolted some straight in and after having jumped it a few times noticed the front diff was hitting a few different spots. so definately need to space them down.

Can't remember if it is superior or marks adapters that make a 2 inch extended bump stop. I think marks sell one in a kit for the 6.5 Chev conversion. But u would be able to buy them seperatly.
