My group there is only 4. Myself, my wife, Jeremy(Surfection) and Emma(Ferog). We are over there for 10 days but trying to jam as much as possible into our trip. Now concidering skipping the flight from LA to Vegas and just hiring a Jeep in LA and heading toward JV on the Sunday morning to see a bit more of SoCal rather than spending the day in LA waiting to fly to Vegas. We will then drop the Jeep off in Vegas after KOH. Its going to cost us more for the rental this way but we get to see a lot more while we are over there.

More information from Dave Cole:

Lots of speculation going on, but Jeff and I have worked through the details of spectator fees for the 2011 King of the Hammers.

$10 per person for the week. Donation. Not mandatory. If you believe that it's not worth the money, or its your public land, that is your right.

What does that $10 get you? A weeks worth of entertainment, parties, informational workshops, vendor show, port a potties, food vendors....

Where does the $10 go? We have cemented a deal with Cal 4Wheel (California Association of 4WD Clubs) to man our information/welcome booth. CA4WDC will recieve 10% of the gross gate. It will be deposited in an existing trust fund that by their bylaws must be spent on SoCal Desert Land Use Issues. Huge thanks to Harry and Helen Baker and Steve Gardiner for making it happen. Also kudos to Jeff, because even though I'm typing this, he was the architect of this fantastic partnership.

What do I get for my $10. You get a wristband that allows you access to Hammertown after dark and the designated spectator areas.

If you do not pay an admission fee you will still be able to attend the vendor show during the day, but when the show stops and the bonfire starts, it is paying fans only. This includes the staging line before the race and Victory Circle after the race.

Where does the money go? Again 10% goes to CA4WDC and SoCal land use. The rest goes to cover our costs to have you there. Lights, Port-A-Potties, Firewood, Electricity, Security, Medical, Sheriffs, BLM Rangers....

There will be a welcome center on the way into the lake bed. You'll be able to buy a map and program as well.

Volunteers are free if you're on the verified list. Pre-Registered media is free as well.

Just wanted to get the facts out. See you on the lake bed.

Timmy nailed the links. Owned by Walker Evans. Originally built by the Campbells. It's in at Bomber Fab for some updates and adjustments.

The beadlock rings are bling - they have the same kevlar weave pattern as the hood has.

You'd be happy to be pre-qualified Ben. I'd be nervous having to come through one of those LCQ fields to even make the big show. Some good cars and big names in there.

Just need to work out the dates etc.

If you know of anyone with some room in an RV let me know as I will be solo.

cheers

Hows the prep work coming along?
Is it worth being there for all of the pre-race days?
What dates is everyone looking at getting out there?
Does anyone have a spare spot in an RV?

I think I will do something along these lines:

Feb 8th - fly from NY to LA
Feb 9th or 10th - Drive from LA to JV
Feb 11th - Race day!!!
Feb 12th - drive to Vegas
Feb 13th - What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas
Feb 14th - Fly back to NY otherwise I get my ass handed to me for Valentines day :)

We fly in to LA on Sunday the 6th at 9am. We are then driving to the Hammers arriving either late on the 7th or early on the 8th. I wouldn't miss the 8th and 9th. This is when they are running the LCQ which I think will possibly be even better to watch than the main event as these guys all only have one shot at getting in. We are then heading towards Vegas on the Friday night. Flying out of Vegas on the Wed arvo.

Zack as Ruff said, get there for the LCQ. It should be awesome. In previous years it was much easier to get a spot and a lot of people winched. I think this year you will have to drive it to get a spot.

Same thing tho Tony, Friday night is not the time to leave! Stay and party. The race won't end until late in the afternoon, and racers keep coming well into the night. You 4 are more than welcome to crash in my trailer Friday night, or I'll find somewhere. If the buggy is still running Sat morning we can do some hot laps.

Race week schedule:
http://ultra4racing.com/featured/hammer ... of-events/

Map of Hammertown:
http://ultra4racing.com/spectator/hammertown-map/
My location is TBD, but should be on the start finish straight. Look for a big tent with 2 bombers and a big Aussie flag.

4461 Race Prep:

Well the race prep is coming along well. Wayne and I had another big weekend, stripping and inspecting the Bomber. All 4 coilovers were rebuilt with new seals and shock oil.
I'm waiting on diff parts so we quick assembled both ends to get it rolling again, and will final assemble next weekend if the parts get here.

New driveshafts have been delivered and new seats should be done by the end of the week.
We fitted up an awesome siren. It's F'ing loud and should make overtaking much easier.

All the steering components are currently at Howe, new seals in the ram and a full rebuild for the pump.
Atlas was torn down and inspected and looks great.

We put the car on the 35inch short course tyres to roll it out of the shop. This is it sitting at full bump:
Image

Last night I dropped the car up to Bomber Fab where Randy will work his tig magic. We're adding some additional gusseting in the subframe and also bracing the links.

This car has been gone through with a fine tooth comb. I've learnt a lot about it, which should allow me to deal better with any issues out on the course. Any bolt that looked damaged, hose that had aged and part that wasn't 100% has been switched out. I'm confident that this huge attention to detail will put us in the best place once the green flag drops.

I'm excited to announce we'll be starting on a fresh pair of BFG rubber, and even more excited that they are the upgraded KOH Brawlers, like my current tyres but even stronger and with small side lugs. I'm really pumped to be racing on the best tyres out there and am looking forward to delivering BFG the results.

Once the tube work is complete we will reassemble the car and put the new fuel system in. Once it's ready we have a tuning session with King Offroad Shocks to get the car moving the fastest possible through the bumps.

And here's where I'm extremely excited. Anyone who has followed any of my Ultra4 adventures will know that Randy Slawson who built the Bomber is a phenomenal fabricator. Well currently Bomber Fab are prepping both the Bombers for race week. This is a huge task, and we are so thankful that Matt Dunk is flying in this weekend to lend a hand! I've always loved the car's he's built and he's proven he knows his stuff with 2 King of the Rim wins. It's going to be awesome having him over here and showing him California.
