3208 Cat into Patrol?

Post by Buckshot »

Just been looking at one today in a forklift at work. Does anyone know if it's been done? Do you think it'd fit? It looks like it'd go in.

it would fit but you have to mate it to a gearbox and transfer, and also sort out the final drive ratio wich will need to be much taller. Also it only makes around 200hp. in na form. alot of money for little gain.

not to mention it weighs 300Kg dry and are a very low revving engine.. look at the cummins range of motors, they produce more power per cylinder than any of the cat stuff no matter how big you go.

No, not enough horsepower! Try a Cat 3408!
Seriouslly, duramax is the go if you are going to throw some money at a toy! About 1/2 the weight of a 3208 and earliest version (LB7) was 300 hp. A 3208 would be a full load in the back of a patrol ute let alone hanging over the front axle!
