No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class

No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class
As of the last Tough Tracks 4wd Club meeting "Challenge" Class vehicles do not need to be registered to compete in this class. They do however need to be of sound engineering and competition standards and MUST still meet all of "Challenge" Classes vehicle regulations and also be scrutineered before competing.

Don't quote me on this but i believe entry costs are the same next year as this year. I will find out soon on that.
We will be updating next week and keep updated throughout the year the Tough Tracks website. We will keep you posted on when this happens and the website will have all entry fee's and hopefully before the round have a set price for entry in the parks so that everyone is clear on what they will be paying.
We will also post it in the discussion section of our Facebook page.

Re: No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class
Entry for Tough Tracks 4wd Comp will be, if you pre-register by Tuesday night 12am before the comp Members-$60 Non Members-$90. If you register on the day or later than Tuesday night 12am prior to the comp it will be $10 extra.sloshy wrote:Entry cost?
We are trying to make it so that we know numbers prior to the event and also so that we can limit the amount of paper work that is being done on the day so that every thing runs on time since there is now 4 classes of vehicles competing.
Re: No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class
Also Challenge Class cars will now be requried to self-recover. This means you will need an operational winch. I know my daily Maverick isn't up to recovering Challenge cars, probably wouldn't get near them on the track anyway. And I'm not sure what Brendan will have out there, so with the absense of Craig and Grant's fourbies as recovery vehicles, you will need to be able to self-recover.
I would also recommend getting matey with a couple other challenge class competitors, you never know when you might need some help getting out of a track.
With the rule changes made for next year regarding wheels out of the track etc, it should make for some interesting driving and a bit more thinking on track. I am looking forward to it.
Cheers
Rick

Re: No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class
I'm sure Tough Tracks will work around it for you and if you have trouble getting both cars there just get your navi to tow one.giantracing wrote:great news .... now how do i run 2 cars.... 1x buggy, 1x patrol ... hmmmmm
If the cars are in Challenge and Outlaw you should be right because they are both (park permitting) going to be run in the same areas.
If they are in Challenge/outlaw and the other in modified /trophy just catch a lift with Team Jaffa's Navi because he's running navi in trophy then driving in Challenge.
I'm looking forward to Challenge class being more technical next year rather than "lets see if you can drive up this hill".
Rick when are you going out to Janowen to mark out tracks?

All the new rules will be posted on the website when the review and rewrite is done next year.Willy Hilux wrote:Post up the new rules please.......
Unfortunatly being this time of the year everyone is busy and the Tough Tracks 4wd Club Commitee hasn't had a chance to get together to re-evaluate all the new rules and put them on paper.
I will definatley notify everyone either by SMS, Facebook or outerlimits when the new rules are posted on the website.
The website will be reviewed on Tuesday and hopefully redone by the end of next week but wont have the new rules.
If anybody has any suggestions on what they want on the website i am open to suggestions.
Some ideas we have are as follows: Loose the forum, Remove Members log in section , Have online comp registration and membership application, team reviews and write ups, results will be posted asap(hopefully sunday night after comp), have news section for latest about Tough Tracks, do blogs on vehicle builds, update all photos and write up of Tough Tracks 4wd Club, have all fees posted and hopefully have all applicable agreed charges for park entry posted so that everyone knows what to expect when arriving at parks and advertising for all sponsors and links to their websites.
Because this is something no one has done for awhile at Tough tracks 4wd Club i am open to any resonable suggestions of what we can do to promote Tough Tracks 4wd Club, Comps and support our sponsors.
Thanks Ben.E
Re: No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class
Will be out there New Years Eve and will have a look around then. But will also talk to Challenge competitors and also those running Outlaw class (and Mod/Trophy) and to try and get everything as close as possible. I am really hoping to put together some fun, challenging tracks with a good 1000 point finish. Sounds easy, but it will be difficult. There is a lot of support on offer, between me and Brendan, Challange class competitors and Mick from Superior, we should be able to come up with some good tracks.
I know for round 1, I would love to see some new faces and cars. I have no intention of building tracks to destroy them first time out. However it will be no lay down masaire either.

Re: No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class
What would make it harder is not being able to watch the other competitors drive the track. You do get ideas of what to do and what not to do from watching. But this would also make it boring for the competitors sitting around waiting for there turn and not watching the wheeling.

Re: No rego required for Tough Tracks " Challenge" Class
Mick mentioned this to me at Round 3. You are right, it would make it more difficult. However the competition has a social element as well and as you say, half the fun is watching the other cars compete. There is no wheels outside of track rule now, just three wheels through the gate. So it should allow for a bit of decision making on lines etc. And what works for one car, doesn't always work for another either.Willy Hilux wrote:What would make it harder is not being able to watch the other competitors drive the track.
