Not needed we just did ann 80 series where we flipped the arms and ran them on top of the diff rather than under. Gotridoffallhis handling issues and reckons it drives like standard. Has heaps more clearance as well.

many reasons why not necessary on 80 series - eye end at the chassis instead of pin, so with 5.5 degree caster plates you can turn them downwards sufficiently for 7 - 8" lift without problems. toyotas aren't as fussy about caster angles as the nissan to start with. those leading arms look like big $ and if you're going to lift that high and throw that much $ around you're far better off with a 5 link setup.

My truck is the one nick and ryan are going to build the dropped arms on, get them at a good price to as they will be the 1st set  . Will probably take a couple of months tho......

They haven`t worked out an exect price yet on the nissan arms but are looking at around the $1400.00 mark.

Better off with a five link when it your everyday rig and you need to go the freeway at 110kms/hr. I haven`t heard of many five links that like doing that, yes a few but not many.

a 5 link properly set up should be more streetable than the factory setup (cruiser or patrol) - but like any modification it's easy to do badly, it takes some hard work to get it right.

at $1400 for a pair of arms, 5 link wins.

With any 5 link you HAVE to run sway bars. to get it engineered and to have any sort of control on the road. This is one of the many reasons i backed out of doing a 5 link. Quick Dissconnects are still a PITA, so i'd rather run no swaybars witha desent 3 link setup (dropped arms). Also, doing 3000km+ trips, i'd rather the 3 link.....hence the reason the 80 is being "guinea pigged"....

If the new arms increase flex it will therefore decrease the roll stiffness of the car needing the swaybars back on.

Basically if the front end flexes off road it will get alot of body roll on road.

There is absolutely no reason a 5 link cant be set up to be a streetable rig. As dumbdunce said, if it is set up properly it will drive nicely if done badly it will drive horribly. It all comes down to the geometry of the links, they need to be set up so there is basically no castor change as the diff travels up and down

Also i cannot see why these arms will increase the wheel travel on an 80. The limiting factor for flex in the radius arms is the softness/stiffness of the bushes at the diff end. The dropped arms for the nissan will only travel as well as a stock standard set up as the only difference is the correction of the pin angle at the chassis end meaning the bushes at the chassis are not strained in normal ride height position.

Whats limiting my front end travel is the drag link hitting on the arms, then at extremes, also rubbing under the hi pinion.......either way i have canned the idea of a 5 link.......i like the way the car drives on the road now, without swaybars. Im not keen on spending the $$$ on a 5 link only to have to disco a swaybar everytime i go to peddle it, and/or find out it drives like a POS on road.

Granted that it COULD be well setup on the road, but i dont have the time to be having 3 or 4 goes at getting it all "right", + i want to be able to take the truck back to failry standard when i go to sell it.

If and when i get THAT serious, i wil build a buggy, and trailer it

sleeoffroad in the US is apparently already making these for 80 series, get some sent out and rip them off to save the R and D effort.

it is similar to the ones rovertym have been making for rovers for ages, I have fitted them with sams bushes and the difference is noticable.
But the rovertym arms are alot cheaper than the prices quoted for the cruiser and nissans.
